New Terrific Adventures for Fido and You

As 2023 progresses you may find yourself wondering what can you do to improve the wellness for yourself and your dog. You both have already have mastered the couch cuddle and shared snack time from all of those Tik-Tok recipes. Now what? Here are 3 options available for all dogs that can be done from home or near home.

Register your dog with the AKC, all dogs are accepted not just "pure breeds". Your dog can earn various titles.

• Virtual Home Manners- Just follow the directions and your puppy or dog can be an AKC certified good girl or best boy. The best part is there are many people willing evaluate your dog for FREE through the AKC Virtual Home Manners Facebook group. This can be completed in 4 easy steps:

1. Check out the checklist to learn and practice the skills (you probably do most of them already)

2. Record a video of your dog doing the skills

3. Send it to the evaluator (FREE on Facebook), they will send you a verification form

4. At the AKC website submit your verification and title payment to earn your title.

• Trick Dog- This fun title has 5 levels and provides hours of bonding experiences for you and your dog. It also has the benefit of making your dog the talk of the night when guests come over. To make it extra easy the same process that is followed for Virtual Home Manners are also used for Trick Dogs! The same Facebook evaluates dogs FREE.

1. Check out the guidebook and checklists: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Performer, Elite Performer.

2. Record videos of your dog doing the skills, only Elite Performer has to be filmed in 1 take, the rest can be clips of the skill edited together.

3. Send it to the evaluator (FREE on Facebook), they will send you a verification form

4. At the AKC website submit your verification and payment to earn your title.

• Fit Dog- Fit Dog just became available this year! There are 3 levels to complete Bronze, Silver, and Gold. You and your dog earn titles together by completing activities provided in the checklists. Once you have the documentation you need, you send in the forms and earn your points. All information can be found on the AKC Fit Dog page.
